About Event

Session Overview
This forum convenes leading experts and representatives from climate organizations in Australia, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan to examine recent policy developments shaping the region’s energy transition and to critically assess energy-related commitments. Participants will discuss challenges, opportunities, and lessons from practice—including permitting reform, the double-edged implications of AI, and market design considerations.

Guiding Questions :

  1. Which 2–3 near-term reforms—permitting and siting, transmission build-out, market design—would close the 2035 gap fastest by 2026, and what sequencing and accountability are needed ?
  2. With surging AI/data-center and electrification demand, what portfolio of demand-side resources, storage, grids, and clean firm capacity best maintains reliability, affordability, and emissions reductions?
  3. How can the four countries jointly build a resilient, low-carbon clean-energy supply chain—covering renewables, storage, grids, critical minerals, and workforce—while managing costs, security, and standards interoperability?
