Among Taiwan’s 12 key strategies for achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, transport transformation is central. The core strategies for transforming this sector are electrification, strengthening public transport, and improving efficiency. According to the Third-Phase Greenhouse Gas Reduction Action Plan for the Transport Sector, total planned expenditure is about NT$1.3 trillion (excluding rail construction), 65.7%, or NT$852.7 billion, of which are dedicated to vehicle electrification and decarbonisation, illustrating its central role in transforming the transport sector.
